Memorial Physician Services to Staff Clinic in The Villas

Memorial Physician Services today launched a clinic in The Villas Senior Care Community to provide primary-care services to the senior residential community’s 230 residents and 180 employees.

This is the second clinic that Memorial Physician Services has opened in a retirement community. In July 2014, the physician network staffed a weekly clinic in Concordia Village in Springfield.

“Our partnership with The Villas will allow us to continue to strengthen ways to increase access to care in order to meet the growing healthcare needs of our aging population,” said Travis Dowell, vice president of Memorial Health System, the parent organization of Memorial Physician Services.

The primary-care clinic in The Villas will operate from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Mondays for scheduled and same-day appointments. Services provided include physicals, wellness visits and sick visits.

“We are proud to partner with a top provider of quality healthcare services like Memorial Health System through their physician network. It is a privilege to be part of their continued effort to provide access to that care across the Springfield community,” said James O. Williamson, president and CEO of The Villas.

Regina White, a nurse practitioner, will lead the clinic under the direction of Dr. Joshua Ellison, a family medicine physician with Memorial Physician Services-North Dirksen. The clinic will be located inside The Villas’ skilled nursing and short-term rehab building.

The Villas provides independent living, short-term rehabilitation care, sheltered care living and long-term skilled nursing care for its residents. It’s licensed for 266 beds, including 113 sheltered care units, 54 independent living apartments and 99 skilled care beds.

Memorial Physician Services has 10 physician clinics in Springfield, Jacksonville, Lincoln, Petersburg and Chatham. With more than 50 physicians and 30 advanced practice nurses and physician assistants, Memorial Physician Services employs more than 400 people who assist with more than 280,000 patient visits each year.
