Memorial Weight Loss and Wellness Center, Springfield YMCA to Host Free Family Wellness Series
A free three-session series begins this month to help families incorporate healthy habits into their everyday routines.
"Family First: Building Wellness Within the Family" will feature a team of local healthcare experts who will discuss ways to build and support a healthy family. The 90-minute sessions are designed for the entire family. Each session includes exercises for the family, and participants are encouraged to dress comfortably. All sessions run from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The first session, "Just The Facts," will be offered twice. The session will be held Tuesday, April 25, at the Gus and Flora Kerasotes YMCA, 4550 W. Iles Ave., and Wednesday, April 26, at the Downtown YMCA, 701 S. Fourth St.
Dr. Nicole Florence, medical director of the Memorial Weight Loss and Wellness Center, and Cheri Harrison, pediatric program coordinator for the Center for Healthy Families with the Memorial Weight Loss and Wellness Center, will lead the session.
The second session, "Wellness Beyond Numbers," will be held Tuesday, May 16, at the Gus and Flora Kerasotes YMCA. Dr. Teena John, a pediatrician with the Center for Healthy Families, and Kimberly Paskiewicz, a registered dietitian and director of the Memorial Weight Loss and Wellness Center, will lead the session.
The third session, "Me to We: Incorporating Healthy Habits in the Family," will be held Wednesday, June 7, at the Downtown YMCA. Dr. Virginia Dolan, a pediatrician with the Center for Healthy Families, and Harrison will lead the session.
Registration is encouraged, but not required, by calling 217-588-2973 or visiting MemorialWeightLossAndWellnessCenter.com/Events. Families can register for all three sessions or choose the individual sessions that interest them.
